Well you have got prestwick Up North! I guess I will be visiting my mother the weekend of the 17th, she lives about 10 miles from Sywell. Actually a visit to the airfield on a nice quiet mid week afternoon can be quite interesting too.

Interesting, that wasn't there when I posted the link and confirms that the Lancaster is staying at least a week into September rather than leaving at the end of August as planned. With luck this makes a Duxford appearance all the more likely :D

If it could stay another couple of weeks, they could do the Southport airshow and I would have no reason to moan about all the venues being too far south (or north with Prestwick). I could watch them from my balcony or take a couple of minutes stroll onto the beach to take in the full atmosphere. :D

Few new dates added into mid September - including Duxford!

That 50-500 lens might be getting another rental :-D

Good to know. Hopefully the forum will be filled with photos once it all gets underway.

I'm hedging my bets and booking tickets for both days and camping up the road - should be a great airshow even if they don't confirm the second Lancaster. Motivation to go was peaked when I discovered they have a static SR-71 there! Loved that plane since I was a child but have never seen one other than in pictures, fingers crossed for some good weather and a great weekend :)

Oh, and I am renting the silly lens again too :D

For those of you with a bunch of cash, it was announced on the news this morning that they will be having another bid for someone to fly on the Lancaster for the return trip to Canada.

I can't tell you just how much I wish I could bid on that. It served in Greenwood when I was very young & my father had to have put in some time as it's flight engineer during that time PLUS Lanc's are the thing I loved most about those years as an Air Force brat. I've never made a "bucket list" but that trip would be the entire list.

You can have a flight in the Lancaster in Canada for around $2000 according to their website. Not a cross continental one of course but still pretty good. Sadly the English one doesn't do paid for flights so if I ever want to have a flight in one I need to get to Canada first.

Sadly no way I can make this but for anyone near Waddington on 21st August there is an opportunity to see both Lancasters along with the Vulcan Bomber and two Hawks! That is a line up I would absolutely love to see!

Duxford looks to be confirmed now - very excited! With the list of other planes they have on at Duxford this year I'm hoping for a mass warbird flypast with the two lancs at the front!

[waits patiently for someone's shots in the transportation section :-)]

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:
