Thank you all so much for the help!! You all have definitely persuaded me to buy the IS version used. I'll wait a week or two and see if the Canon website might get some more refurbs, but if not, I'll nab one from KEH. You guys are amazing!

Keh is definitely the best vender for used equipment. I'm willing to bet anything bought from them rated EX or better is indistinguishable from new condition. You have a return window as well so you are covered if you decide to return the lens.

Being strapped for cash, I just can't see paying the extra $350-$400 for the new version when I can just get it used for $999. Canon should really consider making the 70-200mm F/4 IS $1,000, but we can only dream.
