And these two, who were hanging out, watching the goslings with me.

Think what happens sometimes is that goslings from younger, inexperienced Geese....are sometimes taken over by older Canada Geese and incorporated into their brood of goslings.

Any biologists to clarify ?

I was really curious about this, I read that they lay 2-10 eggs. And that they will foster, even goslings of other species. I have a feeling that some of these goslings just happen to latch on to the adults who happen to be heading in the right direction.

I have seen this group move around with a bunch of small groups of goslings or one or two very large groups.

But this is just what I have seen and I may not have seen everything.

~Not a biologist.

Looks more like a school outing than a family group - that adult sure has her hands (wings?) full! Nice picture!

Very cute. That is quite a large family. I wonder if some are foster chicks. LOL

All of the adults in this group, about 20 seem to care for the goslings. Also, out of view were a half dozen or so standing sentry duty. Four of them were yelling at my blue heeler and I.
