Picked up a used 7D today but the software CD is missing, anyone able to point me in the direction of the drivers please

Best wishes for many great shots, Simon. By the time even a new camera gets into the field the CD usually features outdated software, so you have suffered no loss in not having one.

Still having issues opening the files?

Downloaded all the software but just get the message "Windows cannot open this file" Grrr

Life was so much easier with the 20D lol

If you haven't previously installed the Canon software, and you get an "update" from the Canon site, the update will look for a previous installation and fail.

I've seen Canon offering full installations for recent cameras, I don't know how they work as to the "update" issue, but there are work-arounds. So if you try the above links and they fail, let us know and someone can point you to a work-around, one of which is to install an "original" version that is available, but also there are registry entries that can get things in place:
