Despite having our feeders destroyed by the neighborhood black bear we have managed to keep the birds around and have now resorted to putting the feeders out in AM and bringing them into the garage in the PM.

The past few days have brought a few of these to our yard.

Dear Bob,

Trust me we had problems with squirrels too. They chewed up a couple of feeders but I re-rigged everything with squirrel proof shrouds on the poles and they stopped messing with things.

Two days later the bear flattened a 6' tall 1/2" thick wrought iron shepherds hook. He also broke a neighbor's 4" x 4" pressure treated post that was mounted in concrete.

It's a big bear, easily 400 pounds plus according to neighbors that have seen it. I'd just like to see it, it would make the constant rebuilding a bit more tolerable! ;)

Regards,

Tim Murphy :D

Beautiful Indigo! I had that exact feeder, ( yup, Squirrel proof, lol ) I think it lasted two days before they destroyed it. A Bear, heh, not much you can do about that, I hope he doesn't break down the door!

be careful what you wish for- a couple of weeks ago in a suburb of Orlando a women heard a commotion - she went outside to find 4 bears going through her garbage. One grabbed her by the head and started to drag her away but let her go and sneaked away. She cut up and bruised but not badly hurt. Hope you get some pictures but use caution
