I have an SL1 on the way and I have a couple of questions:

1) is there a safe aftermarket battery for this camera? I had a hell of a time getting AM batteries for my 5d3 that didn't do something weird and eventually bought canon back-ups so I'm wondering about the SL1.

2) I have lightroom 4.4. will it crack SL1 RAW files or do I need to upgrade again?

thanks :D

My sister had a new SL1 to use at the Kentucky Derby. I purchased this for her: http://www.amazon.com …=canon+sl1+battery+wasabi (external link) after some research.

Most reviews of the SL1 indicated the battery life was short. We wanted enough battery power to last at least 8 hours. Much to my surprise, the OEM battery lasted all day. The actual usage time was about 7 hours with the indicator still showing good charge remaining.

She used the camera for basic photo needs, no flash or movies. We tested both of the Wasabi batteries for fit and to be sure they worked - no problems.

Ed, yes. LR 4.4 added the SL1.

I don't even notice the difference between it and the oem.

I uses LR 4.4 with my SL1 RAW files and its compatible.
