A few Purple Gallinule shots from my Florida trip a couple weeks ago. Their balancing act to get to the Fire Flag seeds/blooms is fun to watch.

Thanks Larry. Their weight is just enough to bend the the stalks and allow them to reach the blooms. They're not large birds, weighing between 9 and 11 oz and about 10-15 inches long.

Wow, those feet look huge. Really like the pose on the last one and the colors are amazing as well as your excellent as always photo quality.

It is always a treat to see your posts Steve. My wife is a fine art major and noticed that on your site she mentioned that your composition and your photography really is top notch! She says this guy, (you) is a true artist. Then she said to me, when are you going to start taking photos like this?

Thanks very much Robert. I'm flattered that you and your wife enjoy my efforts. I've been an artist myself for the past 40 years, 35 professionally. I started in fine arts and in an effort to avoid starvation I moved into illustration and graphic design in advertising. My photography knowledge stems from many years working alongside pro photographers as an art and creative director. My wife is a life-long fine artists, her work is amazing and she's 100% self taught. Thanks agai to you and your wife.

Excellent as always, Steve, and glad you made your trip to Florida. Would love to hear your highlights/must-see reviews.

Thanks very much Ian. The trip went well, not my most productive but still good. I shot at Ft. Desoto, Estero Lagoon, Corkscrew Swamp, The Bailey Tract(Ding Darling), Ding Darling, Vista View Park, Wakodahatchee and Green Cay in 6 days. I missed out on Blue Cypress this year, very disappointing. My friends had to cancel and I couldn't find anyone that could go along on short notice. Hopefully next year. If you ever need any help with Florida locations please PM me, I'll be glad to share what I know.
