I have a set of photogenic lights. One of my lights, a photogenic PL500DR solair model, after about 10-15 minutes of normal operation, starts to misfire. It gives me the audible beep and does not expose my shot.

I know there are not too many photogenic users here but by chance:

1) anyone here experience this and may know the problem? Easy or cheap fix I hope.
2) do you send your stuff to photogenic (they seem to have a long turn around) or do you have repair done at a third party?

Any direction would be appreciated. Thanks

I bought them on craigslist a few years ago for a pretty decent deal. Since then I picked up a couple of others for cheap on ebay or craigslist and have a bunch of modifiers now.

I am kind of stuck with the bunch unless I sell them for next to nothing and buy a whole new set of something else.

I do like them, and they produce good light. But I wish they had a bigger market. And repair was easier to come by.

I used to use PL1250DR for a very long time. They still offer good value.

I suggest that you ship the unit to Photogenic and ask for an estimate. If they can fix it under $150, i would go for it.
