I won't do business with Adorama anymore. I placed orders with them during the Lexar sale, and my items are on back order and they just absolutely suck to deal with in regard to updates and such.

Unfortunately I've had the same experience with them. Twice. Therefore I ordered this lens, and thousands of dollars more items before this, primarily through B & H.

We shall see... I placed my order with Adorama on the first preorder day (in the morning too!), so I'm patiently hoping to be one of the early receivers. But who knows?? Maybe I should've placed orders with both B&H and Adorama just to see who actually ships faster..

Just to those curious, I was given below response when asked about my preorder status.

This is a brand new model and it is in high demand. Currently, there is no official ETA from the manufacturer for our next batch.

They determine when we get each batch and how many we receive per batch. Orders are fulfilled in the order we received them, on a first come first serve basis. We cannot share line placement nor can we estimate what batch your order may be fulfilled in.

Hmm adorama closes early today and is closed on saturday just like bh, i might walk up there on sunday and see if i can snag one up. I live dab in the center between the two stores (it can be dangerous for impulse buys)

I placed a preorder with Adorama at like 6:45am EST the morning it released and a bit later for B&H. I expect to be nearly close to the top of the list for Adorama, not as high up for B&H. Excited to see when one ships!

I've begun to realize that if you want to get a new-release lens or camera, then Adorama and B&H are the worst places to order from. No criticism of those two retailers - I am a huge fan of both.

For instance I pre-ordered a D800 from both - and after waiting and waiting, I ended up getting it from a small retailer. Amazingly, two months later I decided to sell it and go with my 5D III I was able to sell my D800 to a coworker who was still waiting for B&H to fill his pre-order - and he had pre-ordered on the first day.

And I pre-ordered my Zeiss Otus from a small Zeiss dealer in CA and got it months before I ever got an in-stock notification from B&H.

It's not that B&H and Adorama are bad - it's because they're so darn great! Too many people pre-order from them. Anyway, all I'm saying is that I've learned that to get a new-release product quickest, the best place to order is from smaller lesser-known shops.

I'm pretty sure it was at night when it released the preorder page. I recall preordering right away on adorama even before the preorder page on BH appeared.

Ahh... I thought "preparing shipment" means packing the damn box. Oh well.

Guys remember BH/Adorama/Beach close early on fridays and are closed all day on saturdays due to religious reasons. They will put new items as "in stock" on fridays knowing they cant ship, to drive up orders as others stores dont have them (they dont either and they know shipments come on mondays) Beach did this with 6D release showed in stock on friday when street date was monday, i ordered at 7am and they still dint not ship till Monday even though i paid for overnight and rush.
