I am just simply curious, I don't have anything against Best Buy or anything... But I assume you would always have to pay sales tax and pre-ordering from Adorama, B&H, Amazon or other options such as PMI Digital, PC Nation, etc... Would be a better, cheaper option.

Does Best Buy often get lenses quickly or something? Or is this just for those who live in NJ/NY and would have to pay tax anyway on Adorama/B&H? NJ = NO tax from B&H. Adorama = yes b/c that have a warehouse or some facility in NJ. Paul

I'm hoping that those of us who pre-ordered the lens are safe!!! -Jalal BestBuy just sold-out of their first allotment from Canon, that's all. Invertalon wrote in post #16983374 Question... I get my order pretty quick and have 12 to 18 months to pay it off with no interest, plus get money back with my rewards-card.

My reply is not intended to be didactic or otherwise preachy - but since sales or use tax is always due, regardless of where the retailer is located, many people just take the sales tax cost out of the buying equation. If a particular retailer (e.g. B&H) doesn't have an obligation to collect the sales tax in a particular state due their own lack of physical presence in that destination state, the purchaser still has a clear legal obligation to self-remit that tax, typically on their personal income tax return. I understand that it is typically not enforced and self-compliance is rather infrequent.
