It's the same height as the 24-70 II, but thankfully feels as light as the 17-40.

Loving the new wave of Canon quality zooms.

Pic shows 24-70 II next to it.

Edit: They sure were generous in the grip for the focus ring - so much room.

Boo mine never made it up to the Cleveland hub yet :( So tomorrow it is (as expected!).

I have not been so excited for a lens in a long time... It will be so perfect for me. Often, my "professional" twice a year are shoots done in low light, requiring an UWA for posed shots... Which is perfect for this lens since I never use a tripod during those shoots. f/2.8 is one thing, but my stuff is posed and people are not moving, so the IS will be more useful.

At last!! An iPhone pic from the bus stop, sorry if it's huge I haven't attached photos here before so am not sure how it will show on the screen.

Digidirect Sydney didn't have it in store, except (I think) for pre-order clients, so I went around the corner to Georges where they had unpacked 30 of this lens today. What was left of that 30 were stacked behind the counter and it looked as if they'd been going fast.. someone else was buying his too as I was paying.

Anyway I'm thrilled!! Unfortunately it's dark by 5pm in Sydney at this time of year and I have to work all week, so there won't be much chance to play with it in daylight until Saturday.

My gear is soooo far ahead of my skills that it's not funny. But I'm happy :D

Good luck with all your orders and unboxing!!

Hmmm a silver and black box art. I though Canon liked while and black...lol!

A nice pair for sure. I see you have a "anti-duck" frisby fitted to your 24-70IIL...made by Hoya.

that 16-36 F2.8 looks decentered. one corner is much softer than the other. The right corner is pretty close when stopped down, but the left is really bad.

Isn't the Left Corner @17mm and the Right Corner @35mm? I think that is probably the difference between the two corners.

Aren't those Left Corner and Center crops?
I don't see anything for Right Corner.

the second set of corners is the right corner, based on the full image below.

sounds like you'll be having an unproductive day at the office.

the second set of corners is the right corner, based on the full image below.

But above the first set of crops at ways "Wide" and above the second set of crops it says "Tele", and the second set of crops comes from an area of the full frame shot that is a good 30% of the way in toward the center from the upper right corner, so the full frame shot looks to be a representation of the full scene and not the frame that the "Tele" corner crops were actually taken from.

Maybe?

I missed the wide and tele.

I dont own the 16-35F2.8 and just assumed the wide was stronger than the tele, so I had to do a double take on the results. The test is somewhat confusing not showing both full images.

It is odd, I would like to see the entire image also.

On my 16-35 2.8 II, while the corners at f8 are not as tack sharp as the centre, they are still quite detailed and sharp enough. But that example makes it look horrendous which is in my opinion, not a true representation.
