Apocalypse Now...

It was 3:35pm when I took this photo. I carefully selected an image with white light from a 5000k LED source from our neighbour's home. It's high summer here and the sky should be bright blue but it's a dull orange, more like a winter sunset. All around auto sensing lights are turning on.

We are 2,000km away from Australia but we are seeing the results of the Oz bush fires here. Heaven help the folks where the fires are...

Downtown Oklahoma City is called Bricktown, it has restaurants, nightclubs, a theater, water taxi's, interesting shops, streetcars but what it really has is BRICKS...

Calgary has a peculiar relationship with public art. Much of it ranges from good to excellent. Other installations, such as this one, contribute to the dystopian hellscape art is supposed to remedy.

'Bloom' is a 7 story, $500,000, sculpture assembled from street lights on St. Patrick's Island Park.

It's only redeeming quality is the osprey nest on the uppermost lamp.

On the bright side, it was a marginally better use of our tax dollars than Beaufort Towers (external link), the Giant Blue Ring (external link) or Snapshots (external link).

Shot the sculpture with my phone and an appropriately bad filter. The resident osprey was shot from the bridge adjacent to it.
