I have read through a large portion of the posts on lighting stand and lights and I am still undecided. Any help would be appreciated.

I do a reasonable amount of on location shooting and have moved to Godox (Cheetah) lights . I have a 180, 360 and two 850's. I currently have a few cheap stands as well as a Manfrotto Nano (which I like). I think better stands would be a good investment.

However after reading arguments both ways I am torn between a heavy duty, but lightweight stand like a Manfrotto 1004 or the 1005 or going to a C Stand like the Kupo 40
Inch C Stand with Turtle legs.

My concern over the C Stand is how heavy it seems to be if I am going to carry it a considerable distance from the car.

Any thoughts?

Unless you're using heavy modifiers the 1004 or 1005 might be a better choice for location work with the relatively light weight Cheetah lights. They have a wider footprint than the C stands and are much lighter.

The C stands are more durable and with the turtle base they break down and pack well in little space. They are heavy, however. If portability is a concern check out Matthews C stands as well, they're lighter than most brands.

Thanks - would you suggest the 1004 or the 1005?

I'd suggest the 1004 just because it has an extra riser section and can go higher. I have a few non-stacking 1004's I picked up about 10-15 years ago and they're holding up quite well.
