May 14, 2014 20:10 | #1 Many thanks to our neighbor for alerting us to the Pileated woodpecker nest on his land. I am super excited about photo-documenting this event and cannot wait to get some wee ones in the viewfinder. This is a very rural setting and the birds are extremely timid so I don’t dare get too close. In this scene the male has been inside on the nest while the female was out feeding.
