Hi all,
Here's the planet Venus approaching the planet Uranus in the dawn sky over the last four mornings, as viewed from Brisbane. Since Venus is much closer than Uranus, it's position changes much more quickly against the background stars. It also appears about 8800 times brighter than Uranus at the moment.
Note the blue/green colour of Uranus which the camera has picked up nicely!
To create this image, I took 10 x 1 sec exposures using a tripod-mounted 50D and 70-200mm f/4L (at 200mm, f.5 and 1600iso) on each of the 4 days, and these were stacked using DeepSkyStacker and processed using LR5 to produce a decent image for each day. The 4 images were then combined using GIMP.
Thanks for looking!
Cheers,
Stephen
