If you guys want to really push your compositional skills to the max, check out my new article on how to do it. I guarantee it is not going to be anything like you would expect. :)

Make sure to check out the link in my article to another educational resource.

OOT:

I have a lens coming from Japan. According to the tracking it's in the San Francisco customs now. How many days usually it will come out from the customs if you guys had any experienced?

Also, do i have to pay for a $489 worth of used lens?

Hey Johan,

I'll give you some feedback.

#1 - thanks for the great resource. Your tutorials are very well written and easy to follow. It will help many photographers who use photoshop...

#2 There-in lies my problem.... I rarely use photoshop anymore and work in lightroom. Lightroom is extremely powerful and is an amazing cataloging tool. The only thing I need photoshop for anymore is when I need to blend exposures.

Thanks again for posting,
Corey

Thanks, Corey.

I agree that Lightroom would work well for large quantities of photos with minimal processing.

I figured I would offer intermediate to expert level tutorials for images that are not so easy to do in Lightroom. The ones in the first tutorial are actually pretty tame. I have some images that have taken me 30+ hours to finish.

Has anyone seen the storyboard website I linked to? That thing is insane! There's so much more to composition than rule if thirds. :)

So I am heading to Vegas next week and was wondering if any of you know a good place to get a high angle shot of the strip, other than the eiffel tower and the stratosphere.

Just about any hotel... I used to live there. Every single hotel, on the strip, has a roof top pool.

Edit: Of course, I haven't been back there since...well 1990? Things may have changed.

I was hoping, to avoid paying to get up to a pool, but that might be what I have to do. That is a great shot vinzmunoz, did they let you use your tripod up there?

I deleted all my handheld shots (1/15th sec) of the Toronto skyline once my friend offered me use of his tripod and did 3.2 sec exposures

the lowly 18-55mm STM IS, 3.2 sec exposure. It was quite windy so the water was choppy, which was too bad

I'm jealous of those that can do nightscapes. I have a hard time focusing in the dark and hence suck at nightscapes.

Yeah that's one of the things I'm going to miss from the 60D...the flippy screen. Major PITA to do that with non-articulating screen most of the time.
