I plunged into the deep end and picked up a 5D mk3 today. It is AMAZING! I will say I'm glad I didn't do this in the very beginning because I would be soooo lost. I'm going to let my 60D go and keep my 70D as a second. Time to clear some inventory!

Thanks Vinz. I truly am loving it. I just wish I had bought it earlier in the day. I have to work tomorrow and I'm not sure how much sleep I will get tonight
One thing I have already decided is that I'm not going to put a grip on it. I like the way it feels in my hands without the grip. Its pretty sweet!

yap the grip bulks it and makes it heavy by much especially the oem as it has the same materials.

it takes a second to change battery. it has warnings too. Now you can see how some EF lenses shines more in FF.

My EF lenses on this are like new lenses. I've got some L glass which really seem to have achieved their place in life on this body, and the high ISO is amazing.

Thanks to you I did check out the Sony A7R and while it too is stunning, I kind of felt lost with it in my hands. Pluse I've got too much invested in Canon to make that move. As I said, the 5D3 is amazing for me.

To compensate for the reach I might pick up a 1.4 or 2x just to have. I forgot since I sold my 5Dc what you lose in reach with FF.

I have the kenko pro 300 1.4x. Great piece of glass for the price.

in reality you don't lose any reach. crop sensor just cropped the supposed to be full frame image. crop your image and you regain the same reach IMO.

IQ is always debated, but having the 'reach' helps with AF and framing since more AF points can cover a subject when more 'crop' factor.

Chad, The Brenizer method is something I'd like to try, as well. Please don't be offended but I think it would have been much more effective if you had pulled your subjects away from the tree to help the dof effects. Just my two cents. ..and again, I've not done it myself yet.

You do lose resolution at the same focal length though.
