No, the cormorants dive for the smelts, the eagles are more active in June when the gaspereaux run.....they are about 3 times the size of a smelt and literally fill the river for the month. At low tide the eagles just wade in and grab one or two at a time. That's what I'm really waiting for. Thanks Cheryl....they aren't my favourite birds, but they do have cool patterns and looks if you can get close enough to see them. This shot was taken from my boat....happy to get it in the water for the season today! IAN - Living life on the shores of the Wallace River in northern Nova Scotia, Canada :

Always wanted to see one close up.

I am indeed fortunate in this area. CamFan01 wrote in post #16909766 Beautiful composition and capture Ian! Some people think Cormorants are ugly, but that's because they haven't seen this image. BTW - Did you put in a request that the water color match the eye color? ![]() Ha, thanks Steve....that did work out nicely. Always wanted to see one close up. I'm the same, they are usually gone by the time I'm close enough for a good shot. And this guy took off shortly after this shot was taken. butterfly2937 wrote in post #16909846 Beautiful bird and a fantastic shot in nice light! Great job. Thanks Carol. Interesting, as it was mid-day light, usually not that great. But what a nice day! It was our first 80F day of the year here. 2n10 wrote in post #16909992 Nice catch Ian. Thanks John.
