I got bluejays in my backyard. Several of them. But they never gave me a chance to capture a decent picture. They were either too far away, or perched among hundreds of branches and leaves, or only came close when I was without a camera, or took off like mad birds at the first sight of me and my camera, etc ...

Early this morning things changed. One of them came to perch within 12 feet when I was already waiting with my camera :D. Still not ideal ... he perched on the cut end of the branch instead of a more natural spot 1 foot to his left ... but I am happy with the shot anyway.

Hi Linh,

That's a very nice shot. If you throw a couple of handfuls of unshelled peanuts or sunflower seeds in strategic places in your yard you will have more bluejays than you ever imagined show up.

Regards,

Tim Murphy :D

Congrats, they are very skittish and flighty here, just after they grab a mouthful of peanuts!
