FD lens on EF mount sample!

hey all, i have a nice 50mm 1.4 fd that doesnt work on eos cameras, so..... i used a 3d printer to make a fd mount, then epoxied it to a lens cap of my t3i with the center cut out, then i used a piece of plastic to hold the lever open so the aperture can be adjusted. overall i think it performs pretty well for a free lens, even though it lost infinity focus, but now its a nice macro lens.

they do sell fd-ef adapters for like $10...but i think the loss of infinity focus is what keeps most people from still using them...there are also lenses that can use the ED MIKA FD mount adapters to work on EOS cameras

the adapters that allow infinity focus without extra optics are quite pricy, and there's a kickstarter project selling them for 150, which is more than im willing to spend.

this is more of a fun project with the 3d printer at work, which costs nothing to make.

Yes i would like too, in fact i was expecting to see it

of course! the green piece is 3d printed, with some sanding i got it to fit snugly onto the lens which clicks into place, and the lens cap has 2 holes drilled into the side where the pin is on the camera mount so it doesnt rotate when you change the aperture and have it land on the ground haha

That's pretty cool. If you can make it a little thinner, you can get it to focus farther out.

ya that's very true, but its too late to turn back now... there are upsides though, i can get 0.43X magnification, not quite true macro i know. It still wont be able to infinity focus if its a bit thinner, so might as well take advantage of the magnification right?
