I got out of bed about 2 hours late today so getting anything special was not going to happen. So I went about 10 min from my house and thought I would check on an Owl nest that I hadnt checked for weeks. Well, no owls and it was already getting hot so I stood in the shade and watched this Cactus Wren build a nest. Its rather interesting.

It actually left the nest with a few things in its mouth several times.

Fanfriggintastic Jeremy, excellent detail, well worth getting up late. Can't as enough!

Thank you for all the responses. I appreciate them all.

Its funny because I kept upping my shutter speed and playing with my aperture
trying to get things stopped and in focus. I just didn't up the speed
early enough. Rookie mistake.
Then when I went up to 1/8000th, the wren didn't fly on again. Figures.

Very nice. Last time I've seen one of these I was in Los Cabos, Mexico.

Getting in-flights of small birds is no mean feat; well done, Jeremy.

Thanks Sandy,Al, and Peter.
Those shots weren't easy but they were fun.
I just wish I had my tripod with me.
Even with the monopod I was getting tired.
