Pic Size out of 20D....

Not sure where to post this so I thought I'd try here.

I've been trying to get a few pics together for our hockey team to make posters from. Since I've started shooting with the 20D, all my pics have been in the 800 x 600 range (uncropped). Not large enough to make into a poster.

What am I missing inorder to have these come out to around 1200 x 1400 (uncropped) ?

BTW, I've been shooting in Jpeg Large.

I hear what you'r saying, but the 20D's smallest resolution (out of the camera) is 1758 x 1152. When you say they are "in the range", are you saying that the image size VARIES on a picture by picture basis?

As odd as it sounds, they seem to vary. The last few I've taken have all been in the 640 x 800 range (again, uncropped). The last one I took with the 10D was 2245 x 1926 (uncropped).

I use Picasa2 for my PP, but I also used them with the 10D. Why the big differance??

Sorry, but I am having difficulty following this - if you plug your CF card onto your card-reader, (or connect the camera to your PC if you don't have a card reader) and copy images straight to your hard-drive from the card (i.e. by dragging & dropping from one to the other) - what size do they show as? Do they still vary in size?

its most likely the software you are using to open the photos.

out of the camera they are huge!

Hmm, my large/fine JPEG are 3504 by 2336 out of my 20D, read right out of the camera with the Windows Wizard. Something strange going on.

I'd bet Picasa is your problem, it is probally doing an automatic resize job for you.

Here's an example...

The first one was with the 10D and is 2245 x 1926

The second is with the 20D and is 640 x 800.

BOTH were opened with the same softwear and uncropped. I agree it may be the program I open with (Picasa2) but why would 1 be SOO differant than the other? And if so, how do I reset it to get the correct size??

Sorry Alan, you haven't answered my question so lets eliminate one thing at a time, if you drag and drop your files, as I suggested, what size are they then?

As for problems with Picasa2, sorry, I can't help you there, but I do think it's worth checking the images physical size first - just in case If you are shooting in Large JPeg, then straight out of a 20D they should be 3504 x 2336

OK, I finally figured out the problem. ME!! (And Picasa2). Whenever I export my pics I have the option to choose size. I hadn't chose the correct size thus being why they were so small.

I forgot to reset the image size after a upgrade of Picasa2. My bad...
