So this is my first time posting in this section.... Shot a wedding a few weekends ago and was finally able to finish up the photos this past weekend. This was my first wedding as a solo. The day started out good enough, nice and cool in the morning on the drive to the hotel where the bride was getting ready. By the time I left the hotel to get to the church it was 90 degrees outside- not too bad, but the A/C in my car had just died 3 days before so I was rolling with windows down and leather seats. Whew! It was hot!
Typical ceremony issues; dark church, a little warm (temp-wise), couldn't use flash, and couldn't go past the first pew. Like literally. I think the church borrowed some Swiss Guardsman because I was literally pushed back behind the first pew when I crossed over a bit to get my lens around the pianist's head. The church staff told me that I couldn't go past the first pew, but I didn't think 6 inches past was that big a deal....apparently it was. That was a first for me. So incidentally all the shots during the ceremony were of the back of the bride and grooms head..... Oh well, couldn't do anything about that. I thought I was going to get tackled when I stepped into the center isle to get photos of the first kiss. I couldn't even get into the isle when the bride was walking down the isle. I'm telling you, I had never expereinced this in a church before.
The reception location was changed about 5 days before the wedding to an outdoor venue at a public park about 20 minutes from the church. By the time I was driving to the reception it was 95+ degrees (remember, no A/C), and 1:30 in the afternoon. Got there, scoped out the area and found a decent place with decent light to take some "formal portraits" that wasn't litered with birthday parties, bounce houses, and metal rock band groupies; there was a "Metal in the Park" festival going on at the same time as the reception. Wedding reception music and heavy metal rock music blaring at the same time- not to mention the various birthday party music that was going on too.
All-in-all, it was an ok day. I've second-shot weddings before that went a lot smoother, and some that went a lot worse. I guess that's all part of the game. Anyway, here are a few shots from the day...
