I'll admit, I did invert the leaf here to get a better angle on the bees eye.

As you can see, it's not quite in the best position from this perspective. Colourful BG though.

It then offered me a wonderful portrait opportunity

This Damsel popped in for a fleeting visit. It's the first time I've seen a Damsel in my garden. Perhaps someone has a pond nearby. I hope to see more.

Thanks CamDiver.

Setup is a Canon EOS 7D, Canon 100 f/2.8L Macro lens. I used a 20mm ext. tube on the camera as well for these.

Flash is on the hotshoe but with a ridiculously large softbox on. It really is quite daft... see here (20mm ext tube not show here)

Haha, the diffuser always gets a few laughs but it works surprisingly well. There's tonnes of room for improvement and it's not ideal for out in public parks etc. (people look at you strangely) but all in all, it's not too bad

I imagine it must be pretty awkward having such a large softbox for macro. However, the bigger the softbox the softer the light and it appears to work very well for you. Excellent shots by the way.
