A Hover looking for the ideal place to Ovi-Deposit (plus first in flight shot of the

Thanks to Brian for a previous heads up on why the Hover would position itself upside down. This is another one that appeared to be looking for an ideal spot to deposit her eggs.

Do we have a nice spot?

She seemed to think so for a moment...but then decided against it. Perhaps it was the ant in the previous frame she wasn't impressed with.

Here's a heavy crop of the earlier shot. You can see her eggs ready to be laid.

Finally, a Muscid, in a rather difficult position to photograph

Wonderful sequence Ian - agree certainly trying to oviposit. They only lay one or 2 eggs near each aphid patch so have a lot of visits to make.

Thanks Brian, she certainly did flit from leaf to leaf.

Another lovely series Ian, but please watch the size, you are over the 1280 limit.
