When I try to transfer photos from the 70D using wi-fi and EOS Remote app on the iPhone, the app wants to transfer ALL viewable photos. I only want to transfer just a few, in order to share them on the web right there and then. I still have not found how to do that. Does anybody know how to do that?

Hi Simon - I have no experience with the ap or the hardware but do you see any sort of option in the software (screen) that allows you to "check mark" the files you wish to transfer?

no experience on the canon stuff, but the eyeFi cards allow you set it up to transfer only "locked" images. As Sapearl said, there might be a way to set something like that?

airbutchie - Joe was definitely right about adding contrast...

I know the network implementation is different on the 70D, so the fact that the 7D and 1DX have a menu item for image transfer, where you select which files to push to an FTP server, probably isn't too helpful. I haven't used the 70D, so I would have to read the manual to find out.

I did not see any option allowing selection of the photos. I guess I need to go over the manual one more time.

I have my eye fi set up so that when I lock an image in the camera, it then transfers over.

(Un)fortunately I am not using eye-fi, but rather the built-in wi-fi in the 70D.

I am not sure whether Canon copied the functionality of the eyefi or not. :(

I got curious and had a look in the Wi-Fi manual for the 70D.

It's not at all similar to the Ethernet capabilities you find in the 1DX or 7D, for example, but totally revamped. The 1DX allows the photographer to push all or selected images to a computer, from the camera. Or you can configure the camera to serve a browser with the images in the camera, and then you can pull images to the computer/phone client from the server.

As far as Smartphone connection to the 70D goes, it seems you can't transfer images from the camera to the phone, but you rather use the phone and pull images from the camera to the phone.
Prior to doing that, you have to establish which images to see, since those that are invisible can't be pulled. There are different possibilities for determining which images are visible, like taken after a certain date, being within a range or those that are rated with a certain rating.

Maybe the rating concept is the one you should use?

Thanks, I will look into that. I was just very busy for the last couple of days with my son graduation. Actually, it was the graduation ceremonies that made me think about that, as I wanted to share a few shots on the web right from the event.

On your phone open one picture rather than the thumbnails. There will be an icon on the bottom left that looks like a downward facing arrow over a phone. Hit that icon and the picture is downloaded to the IPhone or IPad. Swipe left or right to view other pictures and download as desired.
