With all the woodpecker threads going around I thought it might be a good time to share some images of my favorite little woodpecker the Downy. Although the smallest in my area, it's also the most populous.

I'd like to start with some of the classic poses.......ladies first of course.

These woodies have a special place in my heart as they exhibit lots of character in a wonderfully little package. I hope you've enjoyed them and always feel free to comment and/or critique.

Most excellent indeed Steve, especially the last one, beautiful light. The beak though is pretty long may be a Hairy, though I am usually wrong on any ID.
I think they are my favorites too, love those brave little ones. Great set!

Very beautiful set of photographs. We get a few of them here around our feeder but I've yet to get a decent shot.

Well done.

Awesome set, Steve. 1st male(Image #3) looks like he had a rough nite. They do get into some cute or interesting poses.
