My first portrait of a non-family/friend. This was shot in glaring sun one hour before the golden hour. I used on-camera speedlight (maybe should have used off-camera?) and a 42" silver reflector to the right for fill light. Still have that harsh shadow from the sun on the man's shoulder. Any tips?

As far as post processing, the background looks oversaturated, and the shirts look really purple.

I had a lot of trouble dealing with the lighting, so any suggestions would be great.

I think the light looks pretty good, especially under the conditions you described.

The pose certainly needs some work. It's not very flattering for the lady. Turning the head that far pushes the cords in the neck out.

Can't believe I didn't catch that. I was so worked up over everything else that the posing was the last thing on my mind.

That's very common--we've all been there. Once you're solid technically, you'll be able to focus more on what is in front of you.
