Montemar Natural Park in Cuba - any experience?

On the web, Montemar is described as a wonderful place for birding. It is only 75 km south of Havana, so should be accessible.

Does anyone here have experience with this place? Should I try to do day trips out of Havana to get there? Or stay in a hotel in the park? How does one get there from Havana? How does one get around once there? (It's a big place.)
