Yosemite in Spring

I had a very nice little trip to Yosemite last week. I like to get over there before the Memorial Day weekend when it gets way too crowded for me. Of course this is one of the most photographed place on earth, and its' pretty hard to get an original shot, but I still never get tired of going back and trying!

Up at Glacier Point, there was a bit of a rainbow coming off of Vernal Fall

Nice compositions. I particularly like the second one of half dome. They all look a little hot to me and maybe oversharpened as well - that "crunchy" look. I would pull the exposure back a bit and maybe increase vibrance. Then I would back off the sharpening and, probably, increase clarity.

RGS, these actually have only about a 10 sharpening level if any, as they did look "crunchy" to me as well. It may be that they have too much clarity applied already. They don't look hot on my monitor, but that isn't saying anything. Thanks for the tips, I will keep them in mind as I make my way through more files.

Makes me sad that I couldn't get up there before summer started. The falls look a little sparse. They will dry up early this year.

I like the shot of the top of Half Dome. It sure looks a lot closer than it does with my 400.

Superb shots. I like your compositions and post-processing. Colours of mountains on the third one are splendid.

they look great to me. gj. as for sharpness--they do look really sharp but in my opinion not crunchy. it's hard to say without seeing full-sized pics cause the shrinking/jpg conversion looks different depending on hosts and stuff like that. but I like them all.

maybe try the tenya canyon as a bw?--like ansel adams style? could be cool.

I just moved up to the bay area--really need to meet some people to head over there someday.

I'm going to relent a bit on the hot comment. I looked at them on my laptop and screen angle can be tricky on that machine. Changing the angle a bit makes a big difference. Sorry.

I've never been. These are just gorgeous! Nice work.

I am very happy with the Tamron, but I am fully aware of its limitations. If you are taking pictures of things that don't move, or move slowly, it is a fantastic lens, especially for the price. It's not very good for fast moving targets, and I would not recommend it for birds in flight, etc. For national parks, zoos, etc, it's great.

Thanks for the info! I was curious if it's an improvement at all over the Sigma 150-500 or on par. I've not come across many people who've used the new Tamron.

Great set. I can never get tired of visiting Yosemite.

Valley view is a beautiful shot.

One of my favorite places; very nice set of photos. We are headed up this weekend & usually go up once a month or as often as we can. I only live 72 miles away.....
