Who do you use to print your photos profesionally in the UK? I'm talking larger than the standard 6x4.

I've found a few places, like pixmania. But wondered if anyone had any favourites.

I want to offer prints of my images, so am looking into the printing costs, to work out how much to charge. and where to get them done.

Anyone have any favourite sizes, methods of printing (types of paper).

Thanks.

Chris

I'm yet to jump into online printing, but am reaching the point where I'm going to want to send some pictures off soon.

I shall follow this thread with interest - but am only really interested in places that supply accurate ICC profiles for their equipment and allow you to turn off automatic "corrections". Having gone to the trouble and expense of setting up a calibrated and profiled workflow, it seems a waste not to follow that through to printing.

David

Thanks, ill take a look at those two.

At the moment, just looking for large, but not massiv sizes, bout 10x15. Iv been using Jessops for 6x4's, 100 for £6.99 at the moment, plus i get 10% student discount. bargin!

I would like to venture out and offer larger prints, say 10x15, or similar.

I've been using PhotoBox. A client has recently been purchasing some 20" x 30" collages from me... and the quality is absolutely tip-top. Highly recommended. They use Fuji Frontier machines (the same as Jessops I believe) and the QC always seems to be very good. Pricing is pretty keen as well - and there are regular discounts to be had as well via promotional codes.

...and the other good things about online printing... no queues... no car-parking.... and usually next day delivery to your own or your client's door ;)

I've yet to use them but have been signed up for a while. If you join via quidco.com you get a cashback and I also seem to remeber you get 30 free prints. Worth anyone trying them out if all you pay is P&P ... even if you're worried about calibration, profiles and workflow David ;) Only reason I haven't got some prints is too busy to sort the sizing correctly.

I use photobox pretty much exclusively. I've ordered prob 1k ish photos from the over the past couple of years (just holiday and album snaps), and every time the delivery has been next working day. The latest set were the best though - I uploaded at 2.15pm, ordered at 2.20, got the confirmation email of the upload at 2.22, and received the email saying they'd been printed and dispatched at 2.29pm!Needless to say they arrived the next day!

I have to say Photobox are my favourite online place mainly because they offer the choice of Matt prints, rather than just gloss. I'll happily pay the extra 2-3p per print that they are over other companies for this!

Just my 2p's worth!

I've used Photobox in the past and have been very pleased with the results.

However, recently I've started using RGB Labs in Middlesbrough. Not only are they (relatively) local to me (which means I can discuss specific requirements directly with them), but they use state of the art Fuji printers and the quality is superb. They do offer an online printing service if required.

Cheers,

Simon.

Photobox for me all the way,
far faster and cheaper than anything else I've seen.

Yella Fella, if you upload the images today, you should get them tomorrow.

I also find them handy as they will ship direct to my clients and invoice to me.
They also often do monthly special offers, I had great success with the 30"x20" offers they were doing for £10.

What is the dimensions for A4 or near off? I have a 40 page booklet to showcase my portfolio see.

What are the prices for photobox as the site formatting looks messed up at work, some sort of web filter has been applied. My pics are back at home so wont be able to do anything until next week

The issue I had with some done at Jessops was that they print their ID number and your name all over the back of them (well, once in the centre) Doesn't look very good if you present a pic to the client that screams JESSOPS at them!

Do other labs do the same?

Two doors down from Jessops, pretty much opposite the bus station. It's owned and ran by the guy that used to run Cameramart on Linthorpe Road.

Cheers,

Simon.
