Anyone familiar with this area? I'll be going in a couple months and looking for ideas to shoot at night.

At Emerald Isle, unlike most of the east coast beaches, the beach there runs almost east-west instead of north-south. Might make for some interesting sunrise, sunset or star trails photos.

The family and I were there a few weeks ago.
The first couple nights the stars were about perfect. (no I didn't take pics)
Sunrise photos (if I was able to wake up that early) would not have been all that nice due to the East/West nature of the beach. Houses, water towers etc... would be all in your pictures.
For sunset I would suggest going to the sound side.

Thanks to both of you for the response.

How about within an hours drive? Any great vantages in Morehead City or Beaufort? I was at the Cape Lookout Lighthouse many years ago and was thinking that would be a great place, though I have worked out the logistics of the ferry yet. Anyone been to Harkers Island? Anything there worth seeing?

If you think of anything else, don't hesitate to chime in.
