Forgive my grainy high ISO picture and allow an ornithology 101 question:
Ever since the eggs hatched, many of my captures of the Pileated parents leaving the nest show them carrying some matter/stuff in their beaks. I’m assuming it is the bird world equivalent of “taking out the garbage” but would appreciate a more educated explanation if possible.
This is the clearest shot I’ve achieved so far. What is that?
