Which teleconverter?

Hi everyone!

Long time not posted a question, so its time

I want to buy a 1.4x teleconverter with its main use on my 70-300L and a few times on my 24mm TS-E.

Since canons tcon will not work and kenkos will, im asking you which is the best kenko (newest) they offer?

These are the top of the line.
Kenko Teleplus PRO 300 DG AF 1.4x
Kenko Teleplus PRO 300 DGX AF 1.4x

Optically they are supposed to be the same. The older DG version does not report in the EX data.

Pro Series 300 DGX are excellent and inexpensive for what they are.

The DGX model is the newer, I think. Autofocus with it does work with lenses that will go above f5.6 when the tc is added (e.g. Canon 400 f5.6L), although you need a lot of light.

I've got an MC4 x1.4 Kenko TC and I love it. I'm using it with a Sigma 50-500 (non-OS) that has been recalibrated and is pin sharp, these were taken using that lens and a 1D Mk2.

Quality at f/8 is ok, but not the best so I'm using it around f/10 - f/13 with ISO around 400-800. AF's great on the 1D too..

Image samples look good. I guess with a 70-300L or the TS-E it can produce still fairly sharp images!
