I don't see many of these at the NWR. Pretty birds, love the color but I'm not sure about those eyes.

Thanks Peter, I noticed a few pairs at the refuge yesterday. According to iBirds we are on the edge of their summer residence.

Thanks, in checking my collection I found one from last year but evidently never identified it. The colors are quite nice. Their range map would indicate they don't get up your way.

This guy looked like he had a large outboard motor attached to those tail feathers. Trying to generate a rooster tail (out of envy perhaps?).

Love the portrait in the 1st image....red eye included.
I personally think he was stating his opinion of you in the tail flip image. That one's cute too. Nicely done.
