Tree Swallow

These guys are some of the toughest I've ever tried to catch, small and fast. And they never seem to sit still. So I was excited when standing on a dirt road at the Ridgefield NWR waiting for a shot at a couple of owls one of the other photographers points out a couple of tree swallows going in and out of a hole in a tree, eye level, next to the road. Needless to say I spent some time with them.

Thanks Peter, that's probably my favorite too but I haven't finished reviewing them all yet. I posted the second one because I really like the colors.

The first one is a great capture. I spent some time last year trying to photograph some cliff swallows, and I understand how hard it can be.

Thanks Ian. In flight? Either they will have to slow down a whole bunch or I'll have to speed up. Not sure either is going to happen.

Well done Dave. For in flight shots try to catch them flying into the breeze, it slows them down a lot.

The first shot is so beautiful. It's composed enough to show that it is a hole in a tree, but its not too busy, and its cute as hell.

Awesome shot and they are such beautiful birds. I love the first shot it is fantastic!

You got 2 great shots at the nest Dave.
That 1st image is especially nice with the texture of the tree and the colors of the Swallow all mixed together. Nicely done.
