They are nesting under a pedestrian bridge. No Babies yet, at least I don't think so, just adults feeding egg warmers. (I'm uncertain if parents share duties or not)

Fascinating group of swallow IFs Trevor!
Your 2 images of full flight show the bird so beautifully fanned out, even in the banking image. Nice job!
The last 3 images around the nest are truly exceptional. All have such crisp focus and wings that are frozen to only slightly blurred. Very enjoyable and very impressive captures.

So how many frames did you burn up getting these? LOL. You did a great job but I can well imagine what it took.

I filled an 8Gb card, and had to delete some, to make room for more. Granted there are other shots that I'd consider keepers, but these are the best of the bunch.

Interestingly I had better success with the mid air shots, with my nifty 250. I'm chalking that up to the shorter minimum focus distance. Also any micro over/under compensations during panning, are greatly exaggerated with my 400mm prime.

With the nest shots I set up my tripod (which I rarely use) and my 400mm 5.6. I picked the closest nest, and tried to compose the bridge out of the shots. I also used my remote trigger, because they are so fast, once they enter the frame, it's already too late. So I watched, without using the veiwfinder, and if a swallow made a move towards the nest I started firing. That lead to a lot of missed shots, due to the fact there are a couple dozen other nests close by, and sometimes it looks like its going to my target nest, but in fact its going to a different one.

Awesome job Trevor. You make me want to head to a local bridge with their nests to see if I can come close to your shots. Great set up work for the nest shots.

Tough lighting, tough setting, tough subject and still you come up with a beautiful series. Now that takes talent. Splendid, Trevor!
