You are beautiful! The image is great but I also wish the focus was on your eyes instead of your hair unless that is what you wanted to achieve.

Thank you! Yes I missed focus on my eyes, although taking a selfie with a DSRL is not so easy.. ;-)a

Maybe I'll try again some other time but generally I don't like to take pictures of myself.

Just stop down your lens a little bit to deepen your DOF and increase your chance at nice sharp eyes. :)

Very first photo from my, finally bought, Fuji XF 56mm f/1.2r. Nice lens & one I can see my self using for these kind of shots a lot. Stopped in for a coffee on the way back from picking it up so we unpacked it and click.

Here's another one from yesterday.. focus is slightly better (just needed to get that near eye) and I can't totally get rid of the distortion. I'll have to reshoot with a different method. I don't currently have any adult volunteer models to practice on.. :D

What lens were you using on this shot? How close to the lens were you?

BTW- Why in the world would you not like taking pictures of yourself? You make a VERY nice subject! <-----Being restrained and respectful right there. :)

Thanks.. ;-)a lol, no problem. I was using my sigma 2.8 17-50 at 40mm f3.2. My D5100's screen flips all the way around, so I was just holding it up at arm's length (my arms aren't very long btw) while standing by a window. I realize now that wasn't among my brightest ideas..

What wasn't a bright idea? I love window light!Just put the 5100 on a tripod and flip the screen around. You'll nail it next time!:-)

I could never hand hold a SLR to take a selfie, you did a good job. Yes if you had nailed focus on the left eye it would have been a nice:-) natural light shot.
