May 21, 2016 12:01 | #2222 My reasoning for hand holding the camera is so I can take multiple shots in a row, then try a different angle. Otherwise it's way more tedious to set it up on the tripod on timer, then take one by one. But I'll try it that way with my umbrella and see what I come up with. It allows you, however, to do the lightstand trick mentioned above, as well as have a good lighting arrangement. Personally, I dislike being photographed, but eventually you do need those profile portraits for your website or CV. Kliphe Senior Member More info | May 23, 2016 04:07 | #2227 I bought the Diva ringlight from Amazon and I really like the effect (some may not!) but I wasn't crazy with how close I had to have the light in order to get the catch lights. I am thinking of building a bigger version so that I don't have to be so close and I can use a longer focal length. Image hosted by forum (794662) © Kliphe [SHARE LINK] THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW. Unless I'm missing the sarcasm I think the book is just for them. Lisa did have the cover and a story in Digital SLR magazine. ~Steve~

Yes I missed focus on my eyes, although taking a selfie with a DSRL is not so easy.. ![]() Maybe I'll try again some other time but generally I don't like to take pictures of myself. I think the result is worth the try. I never even tried to do a selfie with a DSLR but I am not a fan of selfies anyway. Maybe try a little bit more depth of field?! CyberCat
