For the focus, throw it in live view and use face detection autofocus.

Love the second and third images. I wonder what the third would look like on the right third of the image with more space on the left. I personally like that way of composing... for me it provides 'tension' in the image.

Really like second but for me I wonder what it would look like without the chin cropped.
