So the connection between you/camera and the subject is important and a must? | SONY A7SIII(2) | A73 | A6000 | Sony A7IV | Sigma105 | FE1635F4 | Tamron 70-180mm F2.8 | Tamron 17-28 Tamron 28-75 | FE50F1.8 | Sony 16035F4PZ | SEL30mm F3.5 Macro | Canon 24mm TSE | Laowa 15mm Shift

So the connection between you/camera and the subject is important and a must? headshots serve a particular purpose and they generally arent for depicting photographer style (there are popular exceptions, Peter Hurley for example). Their purpose is to simply show someone what you look like, not how good of a model you can be. Canon 5d mkii | Canon 17-40/4L | Tamron 24-70/2.8 | Canon 85/1.8 | Canon 135/2L

I think the composition is also very important for a headshot. Not too much negative space above or below the actual head. In your picture I would of maybe cropped out much of the negative space above her head and some of her body (maybe just below her shoulders). Just my 2 cents. Have a great day!!!

Aug 27, 2015 12:35 | #1002 its important to make the distinction because if a client comes to you and say they need head shots, they are asking for a very specific thing. Canon 5d mkii | Canon 17-40/4L | Tamron 24-70/2.8 | Canon 85/1.8 | Canon 135/2L
