Unfortunately, my 430 fell out of a bracket I was using the other night and now the LCD screen on the back will not stop flashing. In the process it snapped off the built in 'diffuser' which I cannot reconnect because one of the little pins snapped as well.

Am I right in saying that my flash is now stuck like this because I can't put the diffuser back in?

Anyone had this problem before? Any help is appreciated as it's really beginning to bug me!

Thanks!

The flashing is there to tell you that the diffuser panel isn't pushed all the way in, when aiming the flash elsewhere than straight ahead.

So if your diffuser is broken then you have to live with this or buy something else. Unless it can be repaired, but that's perhaps not worthwile.

Yeah, I know why it is flashing.

But is it going to be stuck like that permanently? I.e can i now not change the zoom on the flash?

Not permanently. Only until you get it repaired. When the wide angle lens is pulled out the screen flashes and the zoom goes to 14mm.

what if you grind down the edge of the broken diffuser so it fits back in? you may not be able to use the diffuser but just shoving it back in may make the flash think it's working normally.

Yeah I thought that would be the case, I'll be getting it sent off sometime in the next week I think!
