What's the weather like in February? I've read the average temp is -40 F. Is that correct? What clothes did you take? Can cameras operate in that cold?

Maybe in the Arctic in Feb, or possibly in the interior, but not anywhere near the coast.

OK so I haven't actually been, but a close friend spend 3 months down there and took plenty of photos and spent time outside 'playing'. He was stationed on the coast at McMurdo.

Are you going with a guide service? If so then ask them.

Your camera will certainly be OK at -15 to -20C.

I was in the Antarctic (cruise) in Feb, temp 40f. It was colder in the Wisconsin Minnesota area! according to another couple from that area.

Yes it was that warm!. However getting there is another story, We delayed 3 days as there were 30' waves in the drake passage. I spoke to one guy on the ship and he said this was his fifth trip, the previous four he never got there due to weather conditions.

February is summer down there, that's why it is warmer than Wisconsin in winter!
