Great shots. I like the deep back ground contrasting with the light reflections off the feathers

Thank's res

He's awfully pretty Jeff, and certainly exudes that "tough guy" attitude in your 2nd image. And there he goes fluffing those feathers again! I think because he acts tough and he's always "fixin' his hair" you should name him Fonzie :)
I love the added color he's displaying in the last 2 images too. I'd assume he's got rivals close by.

He really is a sight Steve, that " watch out I'm a guided missile" look is just killer every time another fly's by. He has really taken to the branch off an old pine that had fallen years ago that I brought home back in January. It was covered in moss but the young doe came the very first night and eat it down to the wood. Even so it makes a little Ruby Throat very happy. Right in the middle of the yard so as to survey all the land. lol

Thank's Al, I have been dissatisfied with the IQ from my 7D as of late and was trying to prove to myself that it can take an except able focus and noise less image. The last time it did this I pulled the battery's and let it sit for a day.!!

The other option was to drop it from 10,000 feet into Barry's back yard.

There will be days when you get the shot(s) you missed days, months or years before.

I agree Ted, I've taken some great stuff with it. 300mm is the longest lens I have and I have learned to get close to my subject, every shot I take is with one lens 70-300L and let me tell ya.... shooting a 500lbs black bear at 180mm is no easy task. ....I'm not a fast runner.!! maybe thats why I can tell when something is just not quite right with my camera and lens ...I have only one. Steve suggested I try micro adjusting and I did while shooting the ruby in real time. after adjusting forward and back I found myself back in neutral position but had much better on target focusing of the subject. not sure why but as you can see a much better result.

Beauties Jeff. You do alright with what you have, it's the photographer not the equipment. And you my friend are a good photographer. :)
