I've been gifted the above lens and, after checking it out on the net, it seems to be a very average and not worth spending much time on. Despite that, I love the retro charm of the thing and the fact that it's all metal and built like a tank. Unfortunately it seems to be stuck on macro and despite trying the little macro button several times, it won't go back to normal. Is there a bit of a trick to getting this thing on/off macro? My Sigma 70-300 also locks on macro at times and takes a bit of fiddling so I'm hoping the Panagor can be somehow persauded to change modes.
Also there is some fungus on the lens, I've read about UV possibly killing fungus but this seems pretty hit or miss whether it will work. Anyone found a reasonably reliable way to kill or lessen it?
I know the lens isn't worth much effort, but it's in beautiful cosmetic condition and I'm reluctant to bin it without making a bit of an effort to salvage it.
Cheers,
Hal55
