I can't help but be in awe every time I get the opportunity to observe these hawks in action. Stealthy and cunning, arriving unannounced and in a hurry to surprise their potential prey, and then moving on to the next location if unsuccessful. These same traits make them difficult subjects to capture as they almost always surprise me, I've never got the lens I want on camera, the distance is always just a little farther than I'd like, and the camera settings are often less than optimal. Thus is the nature of the beast.
Here's a few I've managed to collect over the last 1.5 years.
1. The Male
2. Based on behavior I'd say this is a juvenile or 1st year youngster

3. Here's the female, the real star of the show

5. As I mentioned about suboptimal camera settings these last 2 were taken at ISO 6400.

I'm fortunate that at least the female is a fairly regular visitor and keeps tempting me with opportunities. I hope you've enjoyed these and will feel free to comment.
