I believe this to be a juvenile Cooper's because it seemed too large to be a Sharp-shinned Hawk. They can be difficult to distinguish at times. If I've mixed the two up, please feel free to correct me. He would periodically make runs at birds in the backyard sometimes successfully picking off a starling.

Well done Brian. I think you are right on it being a Cooper's juvie.

Awesome images of a gorgeous raptor Brian!
Yours looks a lot like the juvi I captured, except in at least one of your images he's got some wind up his skirt. Nicely executed.

He just has to let everyone around know who is the boss! Looks like he is definitely p.offed at something. Excellent shots, clarity, color. I think the first one with the far left little claw sticking up on top of the fence rail makes it look like he is tapping his claw, cool little addition to the shot, Excellent shots indeed!

Thank you! This was one of the rare times he stuck around. Normally, after a missed target, he didn't stay long.
