I'm looking to set up shop in my home, something small, need some strobe lights along with LED lights for video but that can wait... Anyway is this a setup that I can expect decent quality from?

It's cheap crap, light's light ultimately but there's a reason this is so much cheaper than what you'll get from other brands. Generic triggers, kit bag, umbrellas, softboxes and stands are all serviceable but made to a strict budget.

In the long run it'll give you problems, be it limiting your choice of modifiers thanks to it not using a standard mount (plus the fixed reflector prevents other reflectors/grids etc) or not being a very desirable item to resell when you outgrow or get bored of it.

At the very least look for something using a standard mount (s-fit, el etc) and that way you can get some decent modifiers which'll keep working for you regardless of whatever heads you end up with.

They use a universal mount, which is a pain when it comes to finding any modifier except umbrellas. I would look for a light with a bowens mount, a very common mount that will make it easy to find modifiers.
They'll work for you, but they'll have some limitations you'll do well to research: recycle time, user changeable fuse, user changeable flash tube, number of power setting adjustments, ...

I doubt color consistency is stable with quick fires, but that is too be expected with that price range.

as said above, turning down the light can become your biggest problem. It looks like those are the Neewer brand seen here http://www.amazon.com …fRID=1MVMVTV2YF9DBMQ32YC6 (external link)

this guy seems to have those as well:

What are you trying to accomplish?
Given the kind of pictures you are interested in making anything from manual speedlites up may work.

This was shot with speedlites in umbrella frame modifiers (think Westcott apollo) in a hotel suite.

If you don't need the model light available on strobe the speedlight is a better solution.

While if you like a strobe with good price/performance/assistance probably for USA people the best cheaper solution is an AlienBees.

For video Led light on a complete small dark environment for lighting your subject you could use quite portable solution with nice result.

while if you want light only for the face on dark environment at small distance you could use even a simple small panel over you camera.

here is something I'm working on right now.

Lighting is with my 580, a Nikon SB-28, and a SunPak auto 322 D, I even used the Minolta 20 with a gel in some other shots not shown. The purple gel is on the SunPac with the two bigger flashes in qbox 24s. The vase is shot with the flashes being shot through white foam core to create a 36"x36" modifier on either side with a qbox above.

as mentioned, a key drawback is the lack of modeling light which also helps with focusing. I have to put a halogen light in front of my table to focus.

Why don't try an infrared led light on a dark environment for help the focus?
Or use a radio system with infrared signals integrated?

This does not matter if you could maintain the infrared light for the time necessary until you take the focus.
