Pineapple Man Triathlon '14

My sister in law, and some friends, were competing in the triathlon this morning, so of coarse I brought my camera to play with. This was my first attempt at shooting at an event like this. It rained pretty good for a while, so I didn't get to go to as many spots as I would have liked, but it was still fun to do something new. These are a few of the shots that I got.

Nice job on the panning of the cyclists. I don't know what it is about mugging for the camera in today's society. Are you 'racing' or just loafing along? I guess it depends on whether you're into the 'sport' or just having 'fun'.

Thanks. If it wouldn't have been raining, I would have been able to get some better locations. I ended up running up under someone's house, and just hanging out there though, trying to get the best shots I could.

The guy that's giving me the thumbs up is actually one of my friends. Otherwise, I'm sure he wouldn't have done that. Keep in mind though, the only thing you're winning on a lot of these events, this one included, is a medal (and it's the same one that every person that entered gets).

Good shots for sure! It seems like the sun cooperated with you a good bit which is always nice!

As a photographer I love the panning on your bike shots especially the shot with the two riders.

However as someone whos company covers some triathlons I would not be happy if you bought me back those shots as they wont sell in volume. Those wheels and tyres cost thousands and the athletes love to see them frozen. It all comes down to who you are trying to please.

Personally though I think they are stunning.

As to the first one, you should put it in that thing in the foreground, the garbage can. Or at least crop it. It's hardly worthy of the rest.

Gary, that's interesting that people wouldn't be interested in them because of that reason. I completely understand what you're talking about though. Personally, I would be much more interested in a picture that makes it look like I'm going fast rather than one that makes it look like I'm not working and just sitting there. I guess we just think a little different than others.
