Well, this is my first picture post. I shot these barn swallows on their first day out of the nest through our glass door.

Welcome to the Bird section of the Forum, ( The Best ) ! You will get lots of help here, very friendly forum. You sure picked a hard one to start with, perched or not. A nice shot though it looks like the Sun is forward of you, you want it behind you if possible.
One more little thing, thus "Hobby" we all love is highly addictive never will you have enough gear, even with what you show already lol, hope to see more!

Yep, right on all accounts. Unfortunately, this is right at my front door, so I didn't have an angle or hide to position myself in order to get out of the sun. Man you are so right about the gear. I went by the local camera shop today to see if they had a 28-300 in the rental pool. I not sure if it is good or bad that they didn't have one.

Thanks for the welcome. I've noticed that some of these sections are like a pack of hunting dogs.. They start out after the same subject and after a while turn on each other while totally disregarding the issue at hand.

Well I don't know about the other sections but here, most everyone will give kind advice or help. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a PM or just ask a question in your post or you can always go to the Discuss Bird tab right on top, I will help as much as I can. This really is a great section, very kind here.

It has been amazing watching Mom and Dad try to keep these young ones (4 total) fed...

Cute shot! Welcome to the forum.
Based upon your name, I'll also assume that you are former military . . . thank you for your service as well.

Another welcome to the Bird board LtC!
That is indeed a cute start showing motherly love in the world of swallows. I hope someone explained to you how addictive this can get.....if not, you've been warned :)

Welcome, lovely first shot.

You might want to clone out the dust spot to the right of the image.

Thanks Lester. What a rookie oversight. I was so focused (no pun intended) on the birds that I didn't even see that basketball sized dust spot.
